Cañizares has visited the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (High Performance Sports Training Centre) in order to meet with the team. During this first encounter, Cañizares played some of his pieces, while the girls listened from the pool. After this, they performed some of their choreographies and pirouettes for Cañizares.

Mayuko Fujiki, the team’s head coach, won an Olympic medal in Atlanta as part of the Japanese national team. She has directed the Spanish team before, speaks fluent Spanish and has high hopes for the team.
For artistic swimming, music is a key factor, working with the swimmers’ motions and choreographic routines. Mayuko Fujiki and Cañizares discussed how to adapt music and rhythm to the team’s choreography.

The meeting went for much longer than scheduled, and Cañizares and the team spent a good while talking about music and art. We are very much looking forward to see the result of this collaboration.
