Cañizares gives a lecture and a flamenco concert for Japanese students
One of Cañizares’s aims in Japan, is to disseminate Spanish culture. In this occasion, he offered an extraordinary concert for secondary-school students (aged 13-15) in Miyagi, a province in northern Japan. First, he explained the history of and musical structure of flamenco, and the students had lots of fun clapping their hands flamenco-style.
That evening, he offered a concert in that same venue. Tickets were sold off, and many of the students came with their families to enjoy the full concert.
In this Japan tour, we have installed a giant screen in the backdrop of the stage. This has a twofold purpose: first, the audience can enjoy the details of the musicians’ performance; second, to present the audience with the title and a short explanation about the flamenco style that they are hearing.
The screen helps the audience to understand flamenco better, especially those who have never been in contact with this musical style.
