Cañizares collaborates with the Japanese classic guitar master Shin-Ichi Fukuda

In celebration of this unique occasion, Cañizares dedicated a piece to Shin-Ichi Fukuda. The piece, entitled ‘Resonancias’, was premiered in the Shizuoka concert.

The 6º concert in the Cañizares Flamenco Quintet in Japan took place in the Shizuoka AOI Hall. This was a unique concert, in which Cañizares’s played with one of Japan’s most renowned classical guitarists, Shin-Ichi Fukuda.

Cañizares and master Fukuda met in Havana, Cuba, in 2004, where both had been invited to attend the International Guitar Festival Leo Brouwer. They have been friends ever since, and Cañizares has written a guitar piece entitled ‘Resonancias’, for his friend Fukuda.

The Shizuoka concert was divided into two halves. In the first half, Cañizares shared the stage with Fukuda, and we witnessed the premiere of ‘Resonancias’. In the second half, Cañizares played with his Flamenco Quintet, performing the main pieces of their repertoire for their Japanese tour.

The concert in Shizuoka was a great success. The feeling with both master Fukuda and the wonderful audience that filled the hall were amazing. That was a fantastic concert.
