The Teatro Manoel, where Cañizares interpreted Concierto de Aranjuez by Maestro Joaquín Rodrigo, is one of Europe’s oldest theatres. The theatre’s history is clearly reflected in the interior decor.

Master Pablo González and Cañizares have worked together many times, when the Master was art director of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra. They have also toured Europe together in several occasions.

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and as just returned after a long tour, during which they have played at such prestigious concert halls as the Carnegie Hall, New York, and the Mariinski, Saint Petesburg. It was the orchestra’s first concert after the tour, and the tickets were sold out.

Cañizares’s first visit to Malta was a great success. I hope that one day we shall be able to bring Concierto Mediterráneo, by Cañizares to this Mediterranean Island and this wonderful orchestra.
